An Introduction

It’s been quite some time that I’ve been thinking about starting a blog to share my over-20 year journey as a music minister and to share special moments from my daily endeavors. Well, here it is FINALLY!

One of the greatest lessons I have learnt is that perspiration can never take the place of meditation and inspiration and vice-versa. A case in study is the title of this blog. I spent so much time trying to come up with a name that would be apt, trendy and indicative of my goals… I came up with zilch!!! and then one day as I meditated on God’s word… it dropped right into my spirit.

In like manner, many times we want to write a song and even get started, but somewhere along the line it feels like we freeze. Inspiration is quickly gone and nothing is coming out anymore. We often try to force it and just never seem to get the best out of the song. Eventually, out of desperation we compromise and churn out a half-baked song…

Gospel music must be inspired music, so what do you do? Get inspired! “How?”, you may ask… Keep following this blog and you will find out!

Breathings of a music minister

So, what does “breathings” actually mean? I tried looking up some of the synonyms and found the following words, “inhalations, exhalations, gasping, panting, puffing…

Certainly nothing even close to what I have in mind… another lesson learned: things aren’t always what they seem to be. Context is everything.

Breathings in this context refers to the outward expression of my innermost thoughts, cogitations, meditations and contemplations. Simply put… my mind up for grabs. I do believe you will be extremely blessed as we delve into areas which haven’t really received enough attention and others which may have been considered quite controversial. A few good examples could include:

  • Should a gospel artiste be caught singing a love song?
  • Is talent synonymous with a gift?
  • Is there anything wrong with a Christian listening to secular music?
  • What’s more important, the rhythm, lyrics, or melody?

While I can almost literally see you waiting for the answer, rest assured that these and more will certainly be answered in the days to come. For now, I’ve got to sign out, but if you have about gospel music or if you seek clarification on any of my posts, hit me up at breathings@pozytv.com. I will certainly try to answer, as long as the answer can be found on this side of God’s world… otherwise, we will just have to wait till we get to heaven😊😊😊😊😊😊

And if you have not bought your own copy of my book titled “The Word, Music & I”, what are you waiting for? Order yours NOW!!!

On behalf of the Pozytv team, here’s Efe Prime signing out saying, “Change in a situation is a natural response to faith that refuses to take no for an answer”. Shalom!
