South African gospel singer Ntokozo Mbambo has finally released her much-anticipated studio album titled “Lavish Worship”. The 18-track album, which is a celebration of Mbambo’s faith and all that God has done for her, was released on Tuesday, March 21.
To mark the occasion, Mbambo organized two live performances. The first one took place in the Durban Christian Centre Jesus Dome in Durban on Friday, March 24, while the second took place at Rhema Bible Church in Randburg, Johannesburg on Saturday, March 25.

In an interview with the media, Mbambo expressed her excitement about the album release and the live performances. Speaking about her live performances, she said that she had expected the live performances would be hectic as she was performancing in two different cities Durban and Johannesburg, but she was overall satisfied with the outcome
She further said, ” I’m doing God’s work to spread His word with the people, and I will rest later because people have longed for this album,”
Mbambo also encouraged other musicians to release their songs in digital stores, saying that it had helped her during the Covid-19 lockdowns. “During Covid-19 lockdowns, it helped to have my music on digital platforms, because I noticed people were streaming it, and that brought in money while I was at home. I believe that other artists should consider going big on selling their music on digital platforms because time has changed,” she said.
One of the songs on the album, “Uyinkosi Yamakhosi”, is dedicated to Mbambo’s late mother. She said the song made her feel closer to her mother and that the album is closer to her heart compared to her previous albums.
This is the first album where Mbambo is not singing alongside her husband, Nqubeko Mbatha. The couple have been married for 15 years and have two children. Mbambo was part of Joyous Celebration from 2001 to 2012 and features gospel stars such as Mabongi and Khaya Mthethwa on the album.
