Rising gospel artiste, Oluwatoyin Oyetayo is one of the talents making waves in the Nigerian gospel music industry. The gifted songstress and music director has unveiled her groovy new tune titled, ‘Ore Ofe’.

Asked how she got the inspiration for the song, Oyetayo said:” Well the song came in less than five minutes. I was ready to drive out and was in the car already. Then I suddenly started playing a tune from my stereo. The first rhythm that got into my mind was ‘Olore Ofe’ as sang in the song. It felt so relaxing and sweet. To to be honest all my life, I have been carried by grace. My life in totality is the story of grace”.

Recounting the process of making the song, the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta graduate said: “It took about five minutes. I first recorded it on my phone and ideas started pouring in as I drove and I kept recording in bits. One thing I know is when God gives an idea, he has it all figured out from the beginning to the end .He gave me all the parts of the song while I was driving. I recorded the song with my friend, Gbenga Oyeleye at his house with very little resources. He went ahead and invited a keyboardist and bassist to play on it. He also sent it to the guy that mastered it .Viola, it became a song worth listening to. I really didn’t intend to release it until it was properly done or in a much bigger way. However, I just decided to put my feet out there and let God take charge”, she stated.

On the impact she wants the song to make, the bubbly energetic songstress said: “I want the song to give people hope, joy and also to remind them of the abundant grace and mercies of God we all enjoy.I want the song to make people dance inspite of what they may be going through”.

Going down memory lane, Oyetayo said her music journey kicked off at a very young age.

“My music journey began when I was still very young, around age 5. I grew up in a white garment church C&S to be precise. I had joined the choir since then because my mum sings in the choir. I recall always following them for competitions then in Ibadan .I will be at the front dancing. People were always amazed. Oh it was Amazing. I think I just caught that singing aspect from mum and the writing aspect from my Dad. Dad was the song writer. And since then, it has been growing from one level to another. I have never had any formal singing classes or anything related to it.It has been me refining God’s gift from the onset. I metamorphosed into becoming the choir director in a church for a while before becoming a praise and worship leader at Laughter foundation Oregun, Lagos. From there I became Praise leader at Father’s House, Abeokuta and graduated to becoming the choir director till date”.

Oluwatoyin has shared the stage with gospel acts like Flo Rocka, Bidemi Olaoba, Psalmos, Peterson Okopi and a host of others.
