Kirk Franklin, a Gospel music legend has achieved yet another milestone in his illustrious career by becoming the first artist to spend 100 weeks at the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Gospel Songwriters chart dated March 11.
Franklin, a legendary singer/songwriter, has recorded immense success on Billboard’s Gospel Charts, including the record for the most Hot Gospel Songs No. 1s, the second-most top five hits, top 10s, and overall entries in the chart’s 18-year history. He’s also tied for the most Number 1s on Gospel Airplay, with Tamela Mann, and holds the record for the most career entries of the chart’s 18-year existence.
Reacting to his remarkable feat, Kirk Franklin expressed his delight and posted on Instagram a picture of his quoted words, stating that “As a songwriter, there are few things more gratifying than seeing your work connect with people on a deep level. To have my music resonate with so many for 100 weeks is truly a humbling experience.
I am grateful beyond words to those that love my music for their support and to everyone who has played a part in bringing my music to life.”
Franklin’s collaboration with contemporary music group Maverick City has also aided his dominance on the chart, with their three tracks, “Fear Is Not My Future,” “Kingdom,” and “Bless Me,” in which he is regarded as a producer and recording artist on the project.
It’s worth noting that in February, Franklin won two Grammy Awards alongside Maverick City Music for Best Gospel Album and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.
