BMI To Honor 3 Gospel Legends

BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) will hold its 22nd Annual Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards at Flourish Atlanta on March 30th where it will honor three legendary entertainers who have made an impact on the genre and beyond. The private event will recognize Gospel superstars Tamela and David Mann, Dr. Bobby Jones, and the songwriters and publishers behind the best in Gospel music.

The ceremony will be hosted by BMI President & CEO Mike O’Neill and BMI Vice President, Creative, Atlanta, Catherine Brewton. “BMI is thrilled to be back in Atlanta celebrating the best in Gospel music,” said Brewton. “We’re extremely proud to honor powerhouse couple Tamela and David Mann for their incredible contributions to the Gospel community, the enduring legacy of Dr. Bobby Jones, and the songwriter and publishers behind the top Gospel songs of the previous year.”

During the ceremony, BMI will also acknowledge the songwriters, producers, and music publishers of the past year’s 25 most-performed Gospel songs in the United States. The BMI Gospel Song, Songwriter, and Publisher of the Year will also be named.

Tamela and David Mann have become staples in the Gospel community and have flourished across radio, television, film, and stages worldwide. The iconic couple began their professional music careers in the ‘90s after joining the Gospel group Kirk Franklin and the Family and touring the globe.

They went on to develop successful solo careers and joint ventures as a couple in music and beyond, creating Tillymann Entertainment in 2005, a home for all of their many projects in entertainment.

In 2018, David and Tamela released Us Against the World, their first collaborative album as a duo. The companion book of that album won an NAACP Image® Award for Outstanding Literary Work, and the album’s singles have topped the charts, including the Urban AC track “Ups & Downs.” The Manns also embarked on the acclaimed “Overcomer Family Tour,” a mixture of music and comedy, featuring their son David Jr. and their daughters La’Tia and Tiffany Mann.

Tamela has released six studio albums and has received a GRAMMY Award, BET Award, Billboard Music Award, and multiple NAACP Image, Stellar Gospel Music, and GMA Dove Awards. She was the first Gospel lead artist in Billboard Gospel radio chart history to score three consecutive No.1 singles from her album Best Days. Beyond music, The Manns have appeared in numerous Tyler Perry plays, films and television shows, including I Can Do Bad All By Myself, Meet the Browns, and Madea Goes to Jail, among others, and the pair also starred in their own sitcom, Mann & Wife, and the docuseries, It’s a Mann’s World.

Dr. Bobby Jones, an esteemed singer, TV host, and radio broadcaster will also be celebrated during the ceremony. Jones has had an illustrious career spanning more than 40 years and is credited for giving Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, and many others their first national exposure on television. For more than 35 years, he was the host of Bobby Jones Gospel on BET, which was the highest-rated show on the network and the longest-running original cable show in history.

An established Gospel singer and songwriter, Jones received a GRAMMY Award for Best Soul Gospel Performance by a Duo or Group in 1984 for “I’m So Glad I’m Standing Here Today” with Barbara Mandrell. He has also received a Dove Award, three Stellar Awards, and a presidential commendation from President George W. Bush, among several other awards and accolades. Jones currently serves as a UNICE

Jesus has your back!

Jesus has your back… Truer words have never been spoken.

When you face a situation or you want to accomplish something but you feel like you won’t be able to overcome it, always know the Holy Spirit is with you and He is your advantage setting you apart from the masses. God will never let a challenge that you can not handle come your way… you are stronger than you think. When challenges arise, be like David; face the challenge head-on charging towards the challenge knowing that those who are with you are far much greater than those against you, for you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

Talk to the Holy Spirit always, and listen to Him when He talks to you. He will always cause you to be great and make you a solution always know you are not alone, remember what the word says in the Bible in Deuteronomy 31:6 (Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you). You are not an ordinary being, you are a child of a living God who answers by fire, a God who knows the end from the beginning, the uncreated creator. Dare to trust and believe in God because “when He shows up He shows off”.

You were born to win, challenges are only there to strengthen you and to build you up to be stronger. this means your endurance and patience are key. Some situations look like a mountain when you look at them with the naked eye but when you look at them with your spiritual eyes you soon discover that it’s just a huge pile of dust that needs you to blow it away.

Do not give in or give up. The Lord never said challenges won’t come, but when they do come, he will surely lift up a standard against them, as long as you refuse to give up or give in.

So… Don’t give up, and don’t give in!

Have Nothing Of Satan In You

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me (John 14:30).

It’s very easy for Satan to use people in whom he’s deposited something of himself, for example, selfishness or greed. Anyone who is selfish isn’t walking in the love of God. Love rules over selfishness. God’s love is gracious. Selfishness in the heart is an invitation to satanic influence, for Satan is the author of selfishness.

This is why you must eschew selfishness and greed, and other traits that are consistent with Satan’s nature. Don’t allow Satan to have any of his traits in you. Jesus said, “…the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me” (John 14:30). Satan had nothing in Jesus. There was nothing Satan could lay claims to or which he could influence in Jesus.

That’s the way it should be with you; Satan should find nothing in you that attracts him to you or that he can use to promote his agenda. It’s the reason you must walk in love at all times. Love is the antidote for selfishness and greed. Then also, speak the truth always.

Proverbs 6:16-19 highlights traits that are consistent with Satan’s nature that you must eschew. It says, “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”

The Bible says “Give no place to the devil” (Ephesians 4:27). Don’t permit or give vent to any of his traits in your life. Walk in God’s light—His Word—and everything of Satan and darkness will be repelled from you.

PRAYER / CONFESSION

The prince of this world has nothing in me! The Word of God that gave birth to me is perfect and incorruptible; therefore, nothing of darkness is in me. I have the light of life: there’s nothing in my life that produces darkness. In all I do, my motives are right and void of selfishness; and the love of God is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Think The Kingdom Way

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).

Our theme verse shows that the Word is able to regulate your mind to think right all the time; to think the Kingdom way. Someone might say, “You know I’m African, Asian, American, or European, and I think as such”; no! When you’re born again, you’re from God’s Kingdom. You’re to think as one from heaven.

The Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). If you want to be successful in Christ Jesus and live the life of the Kingdom, you must think like Christ wants you to think.

Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed (transferred; transfigured) by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Walking in God’s Word and having your mind renewed by the Word is the easiest thing for a Christian because the Word is your life.

You were born of the Word (1 Peter 1:23); you have the life of the Word; so it’s easy for your perception, your outlook on life, to be from the Word. It’s easy for you to think and live the Kingdom way and have Kingdom results.

PRAYER / CONFESSION

The Word of God is my life; it regulates my mind to think and live the Kingdom way and have Kingdom results. As I continually meditate on the Word, my mind is programmed to produce victories and excellence. Glory to God!
