Testimony Jaga whose real name is Salau Aliu Olayiwola is an Afro-pop recording and performing gospel artist who was born on the 9th of March 1983 in Nigeria. His Father had six wives and 27 children and Testimony is the 22nd child. He was born into a Muslim family but later transitioned from Islam to Christianity.
His gospel musical career began when he became a member of Nigerian mega church, ChristEmbassy. His first single called “Igara” earned him the “Artist of the Year” award in 2019 at the Ministries Awards ceremony. His songs are mostly composed in English and Yoruba.
Testimony’s love for music started at a very tender age. Due to his interest in music, he dropped out of the University of Lagos to pursue his love for music fully.
Career
Testimony Jaga’s career as a gospel artist began in the year 2012 after he transitioned from secular music to making gospel music.He was one of the first to start the Street Gospel Movement, a ministry of spreading the gospel true music and also providing aid to those in need. Testimony Jaga came to prominence after the debut release of his first gospel single titled “Igara” which won him an award for the “Artist of the Year”, Top 20 Song of the Year, and hit song of the Year 2019.
He writes, sings, and composes songs in English, Yoruba, and Pidgin language, and has released other singles like “Take it”, and “Jehovah Doer” just to name a few. He has featured other prominent Nigerian gospel artists, like Akpororo, Frank Edwards, Israel Strong, etc and he also got featured on gospel songs belonging to other gospel artists such as Mike Abdul, Password, Timi Phoenix, Elijah Daniel, Ologodidan, and more.
In November 2021, Testimony Jaga went on his first major international media tour in the United Kingdom titled “Testimony Jaga Live in the UK” in November 2021.
