Passion for the call is a central theme for singer, songwriter, and worship leader, Elizabeth Kamau whose drive for the gospel took her from a career in pharmacy to taking a dive into music.
Elizabeth was born and raised in Kenya, but later went to England to study pharmacy. While studying for a degree in pharmacy, she also started studying music part time. Although she became a pharmacist after four (4) years, she could no longer hold back from the call of music, her first love.
According to Elizabeth, her inspiration to write songs comes from all her real life experiences which makes her songs more relatable and she has had the honour of performing at a number of auspicious events including the Jamhuri Day event in London which was a very intimate affair, with the Kenyan High Commissioner and a few British people in government.
In her journey of self discovery and figuring out the music industry, she released a single titled “Tegemeo”, an Afro-fusion vibe that got attention and love from her fans. In explaining what music really means to her, she said, “Music is the language of the soul, the heartbeat of the world. I think things would be bad in the world without music. People would be very depressed.”
Elizabeth was greatly touched by music from a young age and she has fond memories of having singing competitions with her brother in front of their family; which gave her a drive to always do better and be able to touch hearts using music. Her influencers in music include Cece Winans, Tasha Cobbs, Hillsong, Cassie J and Kari Jobe.
Elizabeth is definitely arising star to watch out for.
